Unheard information about COVID-19

 Source of origin:

Originated from China, one of the world's fastest spreading novel diseases similar to SARS is Covid-19 or never corona virus.

Animal source - Bats (Chiroptera)

1. Not all species of bats carry the virus.

2. 7 out of 150 species of bats have reported to carry the virus.

3. The spread of transfer of AIDS from human to human contact is more commonly transmitted than the virus from bats or any other animals to Homo sapiens.

4. Hence killing of bats (which has increased recently) is nothing but sheer animal cruelty and depicts our ignorance to the world. It also destroys the ecosystem.

Viral structure:

1. Precisely called as SARS-CoV-2.

2. Has dsRNA as the genetic material.

3. Possesses spike proteins and crown like antigens.

4. Host cell receptors- ACE 2.

5. Antibodies fighting against corona in the body are IgG.

6. Chemicals like Interferons are released from the infected cells in order to protect surrounding cells from viral attack.

Mechanism of Action- Transduction:
Viral RNA is transferred to host DNA which leads to viral replication via transduction.

Complications noticed in patients:
1. Pneumonia leading to hypoxia (low oxygen in blood)

2. Pyrexia (fever)

Therapy:
Convalescent plasma therapy.

Plasma transfer from a recovered  person to the infected one.

Immunity increasing medicines:
A. Vitamin C (500-1000mg) + zinc (20mg) tablets eg- Limcee, Vit-ce.

(Can be directly taken without prescription. Daily one tab)

B. HCQ

C. Favipiravir (Japan)
Remdesivir (started in Maharashtra)

(For B and C, doctor's prescription is mandatory)

Future precautions:

1. Masks have to be normalized as usage would be mandatory.

2. Sanitizers are saviours. Atleast 70 percent alcohol based sanitizers must be used on daily basis. Handwash and sanitizer usage is the new normal.

3. Social distancing is a must. Not only during pandemic, but also after the pandemic to help virus eradicate completely.

4. We will have to live with this virus. As it is nature's way of selection.

What to do to prevent such viral pandemics in future?

1. Avoid contact with wild animals. Complete ban on consumption of wild animals without any loopholes.

2. Maintaining hygiene. And all general rules of cleanliness like covering mouth while sneezing and coughing.

3. Being physically fit and inducing positivity within ourselves. A good immunity is very important.
